Truman State University Theatre Department presents “The Woman in Black” written by Susan Hill and adapted by Stephen Mallatratt. “The Woman in Black” is a story about Arthur Kipps, a lawyer who was sent to the town of Crythin Gifford to settle the estate of Mrs. Alice Drablow. It is there that Mr. Kipps has an unusual encounter with the Woman in Black, the ghost of the Eel Marsh house whom the locals shutter and cower at the mere mention of. Years later, the experience continues to haunt Mr. Kipps, as the memory and ghost of the Woman in Black have never left his thoughts. In an attempt to relieve himself of the burden and to tell his story once and for all, Kipps hires an actor to aid in recreating the encounter which has haunted Arthur Kipps ever since.
