TruCare

Celebrate your Bulldog pride through service!

Service is an important part of the Truman experience. Even after graduation, Bulldogs are active in their local communities. TruCare is a month-long initiative celebrating Truman’s tradition of service. During the month of March, Alumni can report service hours completed throughout the month.

Alumni of the University can participate by simply logging any service hours completed during that timeframe. Hours can be logged individually or by groups. The grand total of alumni-reported hours dedicated to service will be announced in April. Share your service on social media with the hashtag #BulldogsGiveBack!

Looking for a way to serve in your local community?

The Alumni Association has adopted literacy as a central cause for TruCare. There are a variety of ways to advance literacy in your local community both through in-person volunteerism as well as no-contact philanthropy:

  • Volunteer to read to children in your local school or library. Some libraries are even sponsoring recorded read-alouds that allow volunteers the chance to provide this service from the comfort of their own home.
  • Support a local book fair. Contact a school in your area to learn more about staffing their book drives or about donating to help children purchase books.
  • Donate gently used books to schools or corrections facilities.

No matter what approach you take, your service helps create and sustain a spirit of lifelong learning in your community!
